I have a 09 honda civic sedan, and it has 1300 miles so far. i wanted to know whens a good time to give it an oil change. its been 7 months since i got the car. Its new by the way.When is a oil change needed in a car?

Usually most modern day cars give you a 5000 mile window....I wouldn't go much beyond that however....if you only have 1300 miles after 7 months...it's probably not a good idea to let the oil change wait in a car that doesn't get driven much....7 months sounds like a lot.
Also....I would be willing to bet that you have an oil change interval guide somewhere in your owners manual...so...you can follow that as well...but...if it still says 3000 miles...nowadays....that just isn't necessary because of the improvements in modern automotive technology.
right now don't wait for miles, oil gets acid from non use..dump it every 3 months regardless of mileage
