How often should you change the oil in a car with high mileage?

I have a 2000 Mazda 626 with over 125,000 miles on it. How often should I change the oil?How often should you change the oil in a car with high mileage?
1250.000 mile are not a lot. 2500-3000 miles is

fact standards or 3 monthsHow often should you change the oil in a car with high mileage?
The same as you do with one with low mileage.
every 3,000 miles without fail, AND use synthetic ';for high mileage'; oil...
they put a sticker on your window when you get your oil changed that tells you when to come back in by...
Have your oil changed every every 3000 kilometers or if you seldom travel have the oil replaced every three months.
every 3,000 miles. there are oils available for cars with high mileage. check into it.
4k miles because thats what a 25 year Mercedez-Benz mechanic told me.

He said that by 3k miles the oil isn't all used up so its a waste of money.

He also told me to always get the same oil, because mixing oils can cause chemical reactions.

MAKE SURE TO GET AN OIL THAT IS FOR HIGH MILEAGE VEHICLES.
every 6,000 miles is probably OK if you are an average driver. if you are driving stop and go in a dirty city maybe more often. change the oil and air filter too. some people would say 3,000 but for an old car that isn't worth that much i don't think i'd bother doing that. i've had good luck with synthetic oils, they seem to last longer, but they can cost more. also, if the car is getting old some people think heavier oil (higher number on the bottle) helps hold things together. so you could get 30 weight instead of 10/30

probably more concern is changing your timing belt every 70,000 miles or so. if you dont change that you could get major engine damage. you will also need a new water pump and alternator at about 160,000 miles.

also be sure to watch out for battery dying, brakes wearing out, tires going bald, etc. when your car breaks down you will be really annoyed.
3000 miles is normal BUT it depends on your driving habbits if you do alot of stop and go city driving do it about every 2500 miles if alot of interstate driving you can wait till about 4000 miles also if its over 75000 miles i recomend Valvoline Max in the red bottle its for engines with 75000 miles + GREAT OIL!
3,000 miles is the recommended mileage however I think that has increased as of the past few years to about 4,000. To be safe I would stick to doing it every 3,000 miles or thereabouts.
it depends on the oil you use. standard oil has a change interval of 3000 miles. an example of premium oil would be Royal Purple Synthetic, which has a change interval of 12000 miles. it costs more, but is obviously worth it. it will also give you more horsepower (dyno proven) 1-2 hp.
Every 3,000 miles
I would recommend every 3,000 miles. You do not need any expensive oil, only if your car runs a high compression engine, or if its turbo charged. Regular oil is just fine for your Mazda.
every 3k miles. there are some oils that are made for higher mileage cars. Try those. They coat the internals better
every 3000 miles..and use an oil for higher mileage engines

edit: love the thumbs down....your car has 125k on it..most cars these days and i said MOST not all have a lifespan of about 150K so your car for the most part has seen its better days to prolong your car from this point..you should get it done every 3000 your engine is old and its at a point when it will have metal fragments etc that start to flake into the oil..to better lube older engines they have come up with an oil for cars with mileage 75K and over..its a good idea to start using this kind of oil...it gives it that extra coating on all those metal parts that the engine needs at this point..i too have an older car mine is a 98 ford escort it has 143 something on it..i do use high mileage oil and get it changed every 3000...my car has no oil leaks(knock on wood) it still has its original clutch which too me is a big thing because i learned to drive a standard with this car..point being take care of your car and you can make it exceed its expected lifespan
