How long can your car go without an oil change?

';can'; 100,000 miles.

';should'; 5000 miles. How long can your car go without an oil change?
depends on the kind of driving you do. highway driving is easier on a car than stop and go city driving. i have never gone more than 5,000 miles befor changing oil. its the cheapest maintenance you can do. don't forget to maintain the other fluids in your car either. How long can your car go without an oil change?
you could just never change it but the car will run like sh*t. its really important to keep up on your oil because its soo simple to take care of, its easy and cheap to get it changed and its a really important type of preventative maintenance. If you never bother with the oil you might not even have enough which can be really damaging and might end up seizing the engine. Having clean oil helps the engine run clean and strong... old oil can be very dirty and have lots of things that can build up inside the engine as well which will only do damage in the long run.

you should change it every 3000 miles but you can get away with 5 even.
until it quits
You can go until the crank case is dry and the engine locks up, but I would not recommend it unless you are trying to kill your engine.

Oil change places say 3000 so they can make money. Your owners manual will tell you what the manufacturer recommends. I change the oil in my ';chase'; truck after every race because of the harsh conditions. I don't change the oil in my daily driver because it leaks like a siv. I add a quart at every fill up. I change the oil in my wife's 1955 Chevy every 5000 miles because it is driven on the streets only and gets driven on a daily basis.
if you have the money then dont change it and just change the engine when it messes up. noone can tell u how long itll last but itll go for a while.
