Car oil change question?

i have an 06 sentra. i get the oil changed every 5 months since i dont drive up to 3000 til about 5-6 months anyways. is it bad that i dont do it every 3 months? btw, its mostly city driving. thanksCar oil change question?
You should check the color of your oil with a white napkin at 3 monthes time. If its a golden color then its good. If its a dark brown color you are still ok. But if it is darker than that like closer to black. OR if when you smell it the oil smells burnt. Then yes you should change it.


But todays oils can last longer than 3 monthes. So 5-6-9 monthes your ok just make sure your outside temperture stays within the oils viscosity range and the colors and smells are normal.

No. Mileage is the most important factor. The oil in your crankcase is not going to go bad from age.
