New car oil change?

i heard its harder to give ur newer car an oil change becuz its harder to get to the oil pan plug as well as the oil filter, and for that you will have to bring ur car to the dealership or a shop?

question really isnt clear but any input is appreciatedNew car oil change?
Some newer cars have hard to get to oil plugs and filters, depends on what kinda car you have. Look under to see if you can easily get to those items, if not take it to the dealer. They will use geniune OEM parts and will check your vehicle for recalls, etc. Most dealers are priced competitively.New car oil change?
If you feel capable of changing your own oil, go ahead and do it.

If what you've heard about the difficulties of performing this task on a new car is true, you'll be able to let the rest of us know!

Frankly, I agree with the first guy who answered: What you were told was probably just a ruse to get you to pay a mechanic to do something you can very well accomplish yourself.

Good luck!
you can do it.....
If you know how to change oil and have a good filter wrench and a small range of metric sockets or wrenches, you can probably handle it. It depends on the car though. For example, a Volvo or certain GM cars may require a large socket due to the use of a canister filter. Just take a look around.

Dont listen to these people. The Monkey-lube places are the worst to take your car too. Alot of the time they just guess on filters, and the majority of those guys should not even be at a quick-lube place, let alone a real shop. Take it to a smaller shop that advertises name brand oil and filters. My shop charges 25$ for a basic oil change with name brand oil and filters. Take it do the dealership every few couple oil changes for a check up if you are unsure of your local shop.

Jim
dont listen to their bull$hit if you know how to change the oil you can handle it
it depends if you have done it before and know how to do it. the only thing is if you do it wrong you deal with it but if the dealer dose it wrong you can sue or they will relpace or fix any thing. other than that hell go for it
If you have a newer car that needs and oil change, you really don't want to be doing it yourself anyway. It pays to take it to some oil change shop, ie JiffyLube, and let them get dirty and dispose of the old oil. You really aren't saving yourself any money by doing it yourself anyway. What is your free-time worth to you?
You can take it to a quick-lube that you trust and they will take care of it,possiably cheaper than the dealer.
Go to an owners forum on the web for the type of car you own, those guys will help you through doing it yourself. Use the best oil you can get, Amsoil.

Depends. Just because because it is new does not mean the parts have been out for a few years. Example- If bought 2007 Che Duramax diesel, it has the same oil filter has a 2005 Che Duramax. Oil plug makes NO difference.
Look under the hood and stop wondering.
