The only people who recommend it is people who sell it, or people who used the stuff and do not want to admit they wasted the money.





If your oil is black and been in the engine for a couple of thousand miles, the oil is doing what it supposed to.


Years ago I would put half quart of AFT (automatic transmission fluid) in the crankcase and run the engine for 5-10 minutes.Then drain and fill it with fresh oil. The old engine guys swore by it.





Many new car warranties will be voided by using any engine flush


especially aluminum engines, Saturn specifically warns you not to use them.

you might do more damnage than good,,, in alot of high mile cars the sludge build up helps ,, once you flush it you'll get a hole in you oil pan all the sudden some day,,,, same with transmitions..the sludge helps the strenth of the worn out thin metel ..

If you just took ownership or its been a while since you changed your oil I would recomend it.
It is effective but, ONLY use if absolutely necessary. A well maintained engine will NEVER need oil flushing.
Actually, I use deisel fuel. About once a year or once every two years I will drain the oil, put on a new oil filter, fill with deisel fuel, run at idle for a few minutes (3-5), drain and repeat. Then replace oil filter again, and fill with oil. My oil stays golden for the entire life (about 5K) and after a year it will start to get dark again when it's nearing service time. Dark oil is caused by slug and carbon in the engine. The deisel fuel helps break this up. It's pretty important to me because these new engines using cast alum. oil pans have silicone for gaskets. The silicone gets on the pickup screen on the oil pump and tends to restrict oil circulation. The deisel fuel will clean the screen and all of that gunk will drop to the bottom of the pan when you flush it. Try it and you'll see. Definitely don't buy any of that crap they sell though. Just use deisel fuel. Good luck.
