If your car still taps after an oil change what can you do?

I put in synthetic oil and it is full but it taps really loud when I accelerate. Can this be fixed and is it expensive? If your car still taps after an oil change what can you do?
i own a repair shop and what might need to be done on it is to have the valves adjusted on it this is what causes the tapping noise your hearing on it ,changing the oil always helps one but it still wont get rid of the tapping noise on it,have a good mechanic look it over for you and see if he or they think that adjusting the valves might help it ,this wont cost you nothing just for them to look it over and listen to it and then they can tell you more about it,good luck with it hope this helps. If your car still taps after an oil change what can you do?
it could be the pump is gone, you need to have this checked, good luck maybe they can save it. Report Abuse

You may need to have your valves adjusted. Or you may need to use higher octane fuel. Or both. If it is a ping only on acceleration use higher octane fuel and make sure your temp gauge is at normal. If it taps all the time, have your valves checked.
Depending on what car you have and how many miles are on the motor. You might want to think about going back to reg. oil. I say that becuse, if you have a high milage car you are wasting your money. And as far as oil goes you might run a 10w40 or 20w50. But for as now i would tell you to go to your local NAPA and get a qt or Rislone. Put that in and it should help with the lifter tick.
My car went through two top overhaul before I understood what are tap-pads. I still hear them. I wonder if yours need a bit adjusting/tuning.
