Is it worth doing your car oil change?

It is if you're capable of doing a better job than the Quickie Lube guys. Of course, a chimpanzee or two Aggies could do a better job than those clowns. Is it worth doing your car oil change?
I think so, at least YOU will make sure your car is done right, and you can use the BEST lubricants available.

A lot of those places use people who are borderline literate, and you may end up with too much oil, too little oil, no oil cap, or a loose drain plug.Is it worth doing your car oil change?
I don't think so. considering someone has to dispose of the oil and some modern cars contain computers that need to be adjusted after an oil change. I think that's why God made Jiffy Lube.
yes it is because normally the people that work at lube shops are complete retards, if you do it yourself you'll have the satisfaction knowing nothing was screwed up(unless you have no car sense). Another thing is lube shops put the cheapest crappiest oil in there, if you do it your self you can get some good oil for the same price, that goes double for the oil filter. Best of all no chance of lube techs stealing stuff out of your car.
with the cost of oil and filter then the time to get rid of the old oil ... not really
I change my own oil on my two cars. I have it down to a science and can do it in less than 30 mins. Average oil change prices are $24.95 to $28.95. I buy the oil at Costco and get oil filters for less than $3.00 so an oil change cost me $10.50. and I enjoy it.
in factoring in your cost of time lost in: going to get the oil %26amp; filter, changing the oil, going to dispose of the oil, no probably not.

However, with that said, I got burned one time from a quik lube place who overtightened the oil drain plug %26amp; it cost me $300 to have the oil pan replace - plug hole wasn't fixable.

So there is something said for either taking it to a RELIABLE shop (dealership) or doing it yourself.
not anymore. too many places offer to change your oil for about the same cost of the oil itself. keep your hands clean and keep those other guys in business.
